No Halloween this year :-(

Guess what! Darby has the chickenpox. Yep...the week of Halloween, so it looks like no trick or treating this year or even going out. We get to be quarantined in the house and hope that it passes soon. I think we'll still dress up and eat lots of candy...well, mom and dad will eat lots of candy.

Halloween!!

We are getting ready for Halloween!!  We carved pumpkins for FHE this week and Darby had a great time!
She would stick her hand in a pull out the seeds and stringy stuff and would shake it all over the place.  It's a good thing I laid down a sheet under us!

kids look so cute in big clothes!

Getting ready for the Halloween party! We are going as "Rosie the Riveters".

In my Halloween shirt from Nona!

18 months!

Darby is finally 18 months old! Such a big girl! She goes to nursery this Sunday. We've had this rule that we didn't want to give Darby sugar until she turned 18 months old. So of course we took her out for ice cream on her 18 month birthday. It was so funny to watch her. It looked like she didn't like it based on her facial expressions, but she kept going back for more. I think it was the cold thing. If she got any more in her mouth than she could immediately swallow, she would spit it back out and take a smaller lick/bite. She prefered the spoon and cup much more than the ice cream cone and she wouldn't even try a bite of the cone....she has a lot to learn.

Again...pictures will be posted at a later time when I can get the computer to upload them correctly and can figure out how to get the pictures off our new camera.

Arizona

Darby and I took a trip this last week to my parents house in Arizona. You never know how it's going to go while traveling with a child. On the way there it was a nightmare and I was that annoying parent on the plane with the screaming child...but on the way home she slept for most of the time and played quietly the rest. I guess that's just how it is with kids.

We stayed for a week with Aimee while my parents took another cruise. I got to go see Aimee's play that she helped to direct and it was...of course...great. She does such a good job and I'm so proud that she puts so much effort into what she loves.

During the week Darby came down with a really bad "cold". I have since found out that it wasn't a cold at all...just 6 teeth coming in all at once. 3 of which are molars! Poor kid. But at least she's getting it all done at once. I can't believe how quick she's growing up! My baby girl is getting so big. Next month she'll be 18 months and going to nursery. I can't wait to see her life play out!

More hiking

Matt and I got a sitter for Darby on Saturday and took off to hike the Crimson Trail and to see the "China Wall".  It is about a 4 mile hike and it took a little more than 4 hours for us to do it.  We only had to stop 100 times to take pictures...but I guess that's what you get for marrying a photographer!  It was a cloudy day mostly, but at times the sun would shine through, and at others, we were being rained on with big fat drops.  But it was a ton of fun and made for some great memories.

Wind Caves

We went hiking today up Logan Canyon to the wind caves. It was a lot of fun. Darby got a little bored on the hike but loved to run around once we got there. Someone had previously built a fire inside the cave and Darby decided to play with all the ash...and the next thing we knew...she had black lipstick on! Ew Gross! But it felt good to get out in the fresh open air. And we went so early that we didn't even have to worry about mosquitos!
